THE GAME DAY EXPERIENCE
Our Upward experience is second to none. Players are treated like superstars and everyone leaves The ROC with a big smile on their face. The full game day experience is detailed below. From the moment a player steps into The ROC until the moment they leave, it's a truly positive and uplifting experience.
Pre-GAME Locker Room
Players arrive 20 minutes early and huddle in their designated "Locker Room" or classroom and prepare for their games alongside of their teammates. Coaches set their line-ups according to the Upward wristband system and players prepare to be announced through the tunnel.
Player Introductions
In advance of every game, all players line up in the tunnel and are announced, first and last name, and then they run through the banner and onto the court to meet their coaches and teammates. The smoke machine and music make the players feel special as they enter the court to applause.
The Prayer
Before the start of every game, players, coaches and officials meet at center court and join hands for a prayer. This sets the tone for great sportsmanship and an atmosphere that produces positivity.
The GAME
Players play four quarters with a half-time. There are different formats for different age groups, but the overall level of play is competitive and our older age groups compete for a spot in the playoffs at the end of the season.
